Thank you for taking a few moments to learn about
Longwood Place At Reading, a proven
tradition in assisted living. Our residents enjoy the security of
knowing that we’re here to lend a helping hand while they
enjoy the freedom to make new friends and pursue lifelong interests…or
perhaps discover new ones.
At Longwood Place At
Reading we are proud to have been recognized by the Massachusetts
Historical Society with the 1997 Massachusetts Historical Commission
Preservation Award. This award recognizes those who restore, above
and beyond what normally is expected, valuable, historic and cultural
assets located throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Meet
James Crabtree, one of our
Longwood Place Ambassadors.
Jim is an integral part of the welcoming process at Longwood
Place.
In addition to being greeted
and introduced to all our department managers, each new resident
is given the opportunity to tour the building with one of
our resident “ambassadors”.
We have found that there
is really no substitute for actual experience when it comes
to acclimating to your new home at Longwood. Jim is an actual
resident who has lived in our community. His personal insight
gives all new residents the “inside” scoop on
life at Longwood and makes the experience of the first few
days much more comforting.

All The Comforts of
Home – Plus Some
Longwood Place occupies the former Pearl Street School, a historic
structure modernized for the 21st century while retaining many historic
architectural details. Activities for residents are scheduled daily
in the Great Room or one of our activity rooms. In addition to the
library, there are several sitting rooms and lounges. There’s
even a convenience store, a Podiatrist office, and a beauty/barber
shop with a licensed hairstylist. Our grounds feature walking paths,
an outdoor patio, and resident planting gardens. Inside and out,
we strive to meet all our residents’ needs.
We’re Just The
Right Size
Bigger isn’t always better – particularly when it comes
to Assisted Living. At Longwood Place, we have a total of 86 apartments.
That means we can provide the individual care and attention that
large communities cannot match.
Our Energetic, Involved
Staff Delivers Superior Care
Longwood Place takes great pride in the quality of care we provide
our residents – and the loyalty of our staff. Most of us are
longtime employees, and we’re all committed to the well being
of our residents. We greet all our residents by name. We know the
visiting family members. We work hard at listening and communicating.
All these factors contribute to a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Day to day operations of Longwood
Place At Reading are supervised by William Casper, a housing
professional with 25 years of experience in senior housing, and
